Worldwide Wedding Inspiration – Paris Is Always A Good Idea

Each month we jet off together to a faraway land to be inspired and intrigued by the sights and delights of a different destination in a feature called Worldwide Wedding Inspiration.
After four cities and hundreds of shows Fashion Week came to a close yesterday in Paris, leaving The City of Love fresh in many people’s minds. So we are hopping over the English Channel to one of the most romantic cities in the world today and whether this tempts you to tie the knot in pretty Paris or simply ignites your Parisian passion, we’ll be looking at some ways to add a little ooh, la, la to your big day!
Scenes from ‘Sex and the City’ when Carrie is ‘An American Girl in Paris’ sprang to mind when I started this feature. Shiny stiletto sandals, full ballerina midi skirts and delicate sugar plum shades ensured Carrie daintily danced across the Parisian streets – c’est chic!
Channel your inner Carrie and take inspiration from the effortless elegance of the Parisians by teaming classically designed dresses with a soft colour palette of muted greys, subtle blush shades, vintage rose gold and mild off-white tones.
Traditional Parisian café’s and the stylish sunlit streets conjure up creative direction for your wedding décor: starch white tablecloths, charming wrought iron seating, an abundance of tiny flickering tea lights in metallic candle holders and of course a sugary haze of pastel macaroons and tasteful French desserts.
Just like Miss Bradshaw and her iconic Timmy Woods Eiffel Tower bag (seen above – j’adore!), add understated references to Paris throughout your theme with vintage Paris postcards for your table names, or make famous architectural references such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe or the Moulin Rouge on your paper goods and partner with elegant gold calligraphy writing. Oh and not forgetting your very own Mr. Big, who of course should be as stylish as can be in a timeless Tux.

Have you enjoyed Hungarian wedding week? If you missed the modern Hungarian wedding, the retro styled shoot, the traditional Hungarian ceremony or yesterday’s guide to getting married in Hungary, be sure to take a peek!
It’s been a pleasure discovering more about this hospitable country and its traditions. Here’s hoping that this week’s focus has inspired you to take a trip to beautiful Budapest or check out the heavenly Hungarian countryside.
To finish Hungarian wedding week, this week’s Friday Five is all about The Grand Budapest Hotel wedding inspiration! Five wedding themes and ideas inspired by the fabulous Wes Anderson film. If you missed it at the cinema, it will be out on DVD next month. This colourful, quirky movie might not shout wedding inspiration but the sweet hues, carefully considered graphics and darling details seen throughout this magical movie could certainly inspire an enchanting wedding theme.
Pink and gold palette
The stunning frontage of The Grand Budapest Hotel is decorated like a layered wedding cake, in a pretty blush pink and gorgeous gold palette which could add a little nostalgic, old-world sophistication to your day.
