You Mean The World To Me

We’re jetting off to destination wedding heaven today – the glorious shores of Bali – for a relaxed and intimate celebration.

Terese told us her wedding day was filled with love and we can’t disagree. From the romantic red bridesmaid dresses to the tender looks between Terese and hubby Graham; today’s real wedding is loaded with lovely moments.

They let the wedding venue do the talking on their big day; an impressive cliff top reception took their guest’s breath away and dining as the balmy Bali sunset made for magical memories.

Terese says:

“We were married at the Ayana Resort, Jimbaran Bay, Bali – the location was simply breath taking, the resort is situated on the edge of the cliff and over looks the ocean. Simply stunning. We choose a destination wedding as we wanted all the fun and excitement to last longer than a day and it most certainly did. Our guests (76 of them) and us spent five nights in Bali. The lead up to the wedding and the days after were just as fun as the actual day. Everyone was relaxed by the time the day had come round and all had a chance to meet each other.”

“I choose the style of my dress due to Bali’s warm climate; I didn’t want anything too heavy, I wanted something that could breathe and that wasn’t a lot of layers. I had also worked hard on getting my body ready for the big day so I wanted to show it off. I decided to have my hair up so that it was out of the way and not in my face, plus my dress was backless so it complimented it.”

“The feelings that a wedding brings is truly magical, it’s such a special time for both you and your partner but also your parents as well, as we were both first marriages in our families for both our parents, it added to the excitement and the emotions on the day. Our day was filled with lots of tears, laughter and joy, but most importantly LOVE.”

“We decided to have fans as the favours as it suited the Bali theme, my bridesmaids also had fans instead of flowers & everyone commented on their attire. I choose the dresses first as I didn’t really have a color in mind and then I picked all the decorations, flowers etc from there. The girls wore a beautiful orange/coral colour and suited the Bali theme perfectly.”

“We had a DJ has our entertainment, he meet with us the day prior to the wedding to get a feel for what kind of guest he was there to entertain, he did a great job. We were so happy with the venue and how the day turned out. It was all picture perfect. I would do anything to go back and relive the day all over again.”

What were your highlights and your favourite memories from the day?

  • “My biggest highlight of the day was seeing the look in my Dad’s eyes as we walked down the aisle and he gave me away, it was a very special moment for us both.”
  • “I also loved the look in my ‘new’ husband’s eyes, the love in them was amazing. I had never felt so loved, and to have all your closest family and friends watching made it all the better.”

Do you have any advice for brides-to-be who are looking to get married in Bali?

  • “I think that destination weddings are a great option as it gives everyone the chance to get away and have a holiday together, it’s very hard to get everyone in the one place otherwise. There is also a lot organising and planning that goes into your big day and it’s over so fast. At least with a destination wedding the fun and excitement can last for days.”
  • “We organised group flight bookings and accommodation bookings to make it easier for our guests and  set up a wedding website through our wedding planner – Tropical Destination Weddings.”

Do you have any wedding budget tips?

  • “We didn’t spend a lot on decorations; go for a venue where they are included. I found them to be very pricey, and you would rather spend more money on the food. People will remember how well they were fed, not the centerpieces.”
