I LOVE maps! I’m a self declared map lover. Okay, and I love atlases, and globes, and literally anything that’s map related really! I just like to know where I am and where I’m going and to have a look at all the exciting places there is out there to visit….is this just me?!

Anyway, my long-standing love of maps has recently been very on trend. Map prints are everywhere and they work perfectly for a destination wedding. So, take on the world with these map-tastic, destination wedding ideas and turn a wedding location in to a map wedding theme.

A wedding invitation not only announces the date of the wedding, but it also gives guests their first taster as to what they can expect from the wedding day.

Show them in style with these bespoke, handmade map heart cards from Bombus – guaranteed to delight and excite guests about an upcoming destination wedding. Each map is glazed before being cut into the Bombus heart shape and then mounted, so it floats above the card. The cards come in two sizes and prices start at £9 per card. See the full range and more from Bombus.

Bombus: “Of course, the map only details the location – it’s the heart behind it that tells the story”. Cute!

Order of service:

For impact, continue the destination theme throughout the full wedding day.

If order of service sheets are needed for the ceremony, the heart map from the invitations could be scanned in and used on the front of the order of service sheets. To save on costs, order of service sheets could be designed simply and printed at home or with the help of a local printer or a Prontaprint store.

Table plan:

An inexpensive sheet of map printed wrapping paper can be used as a simple, yet impactful background to a table plan.

Attach luggage tags to represent each table at the wedding and hand write with each of the guests names. World map wrapping paper is available to buy in Paperchase and John Lewis stores.

Table names:

It is a popular idea to name the tables at a wedding after locations which have special meanings to the bride and groom.

This might be where the couple met, where they live or have lived, where they got engaged, where they are getting married or where they are going on honeymoon, for example. Bombus can create bespoke map heart cards for any given location. The map cards can then be used to display the chosen table name location, as shown below.

Place settings:

These super-cute little map heart tags make perfect map themed place settings.

Keep on the rustic string that the tags come with for a country wedding, or simply replace with luxurious ribbon for a more elegant setting. The tags come in sets of ten and are £6 per set from Bombus.

Be creative and use these little tags to decorate the top of a wedding card box and use them as gift tags for your thank you gifts.

There are lots of fantastic map print items on One of my favourites is this personalised map guest book seen below.

Choose three meaningful locations for the three map hearts on the front of the guest book and then decide on the text for the luggage tag  – although You Mean The World To Me is the perfect text to have!

The 30 paged guest book is £32 and from Posh Totty Designs Interiors on

    • Hi Karen,
I really am so sorry you’re experienced difficulty with this code. For some unknown technical reason we’re having ongoing problems with that particular code.

I’ve set a new one up – could I please ask you (and anyone else) to use this instead? I’ve just tested it myself and it seems to be working – fingers crossed!

      Many apologies again.

  3. Unfortunately this new code expired June 2015. Is there a valid code until 2016?
